Course Blog #5
Since this is the last Course Blog, I am going to talk about what all I have learned about this course and my favorite parts. I have learned so much; from why social media is important to how it affects the world with one click of a button. How you can use it to help the world and how it can sweep you into a dark hole. When using social media I never thought that much about it besides to keep in touch with people and it is a fun way to look at peoples lives. Now, I realize it is such a stronger tool! It can help expand and create businesses, let the world hear your thoughts, help someone from millions of miles away. If you use it the right way, it can really change the world and your life. It is a way for anyone in the world to be heard and listened to. You don’t have to be any certain way, you just have to have a strong voice. From this class I have tried so many new things too; I had never blogged before, I had never used Twitter or known how other social media apps could be used as an academic tool, and I had never Vlogged before which is what my master project is about. I learned about Net Neutrality, Terms, and Conditions, Bloggers of today, how teens view social media, how likes control the world, and many more. Stuff I never took a second look at until this class. Today, we talked about organizations that were spread by social media like; ALS ice bucket challenge, Times up, and Black Lives Matter. I had only ever heard of most of them but today I got to study them more in depth. Personally, the Times Up campaign really touched my heart and I support it fully. These are just some ways social media had changed the world for the better and brought awareness.
