Course Blog #3

In class today we were working on our group project and ours is elementary school students with disabilities. I learned a lot about disabilities. There are four of us in the group and each of us are talking about a different disability. I am talking about down syndrome, my other group members are talking about autism, tourette’s, and being deaf. It is really interesting to learn about all of them and how children handle it and how to teach specifically to their needs. I love being around kids and personally I have babysat kids with special needs and they are so loving and kind. You just have to be patient with them. I have babysat a girl with down syndrome and my best friends little brother is autistic so I have been around both. I also know three people with slight tourette’s and one of them is a very close friend of mine. I do not know anyone who is deaf but I have always wanted to learn sign language. I do not think any kid or adults with special needs are that different, they just need some extra time. All of the people I have met with special needs are all so kind and have such fun personalities and life to them

Your group topic is very interesting, and look forward to see which tool you will be presenting. I also would love to learn ASL, I watched a tv show called Switched at Birth and learned a few words.
